Mariel and Harris’ garden engagement photos were so much fun to capture.  I loved Mariel’s floral dress and Harris’ choice of casual jeans and a nice button down shirt! We walked around Sayen Gardens for their engagement session.  Mariel and Harris were filled with laughter and love.  I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in 2016! Read below to learn more about Mariel and Harris’ love story. 🙂2015-05-12_007

How did you meet?
We were both freshmen at Syracuse University living on the same floor of our freshmen dorm but we had never met before. One night, I came back from a party (that Harris was also at but we had never seen each other!) and sat in the lounge with a bunch of my friends and some other people – Harris was one of them. We were both pretty drunk and he was complaining about a girl who wouldn’t return his text message. He was saying that he didn’t understand why girls never liked nice guys and only liked jerks. We started talking and I was saying that I loved nice guys (not true at all – I always fell for the jerks!). We talked all night and then started hanging out in between classes and at night. My roommate, Harris, and I would spend hours hanging out at night and eventually our friendship blossomed into love!

The party – we can’t wait to drink, eat, and have a great time with our friends and family.

How did he pop the question?
It was a Friday night and we had decided to go down to the shore – Point Pleasant – together just the two of us to eat fried oreos (we love fried oreos and they have the best ones!) First, he suggested that we walk on the beach down to the ocean and watch the sun set. He kept hugging me and telling me how much he loved me and then he got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him! 🙂
