Miriam and Shai {Married}/ Chart House, New Jersey Wedding Photographer

July 6, 2012

Miriam and Shai had the best of luck on their wedding day, both being on a Tuesday and raining as well. It’s not often that I get to photograph a reformed Jewish wedding, complete with the Ketubah, Tisch and Bedeken, which are all such beautiful ceremonies, that wouldn’t have minded including them in my own wedding!

The Bedeken is probably my favorite of them all. It’s the ceremony that goes back to the biblical story of Isaac and his love for a woman named Rachel. Isaac loved Rachel SO much that he worked for her father for SEVEN YEARS to marry her. But instead of marrying Rachel, he was tricked into marrying her sister, Leah, because of the veil covering that is traditionally over a brides face. So now, the groom gets to look under the veil before the wedding ceremony to assure he’s marrying the right girl! The fate of Isaac and Rachel’s love didn’t end there though. Isaac loved Rachel so much that he worked for her father for ANOTHER SEVEN YEARS to marry her, and finally did. What a love story, right? How many men reading this would work 14 years for the hand of the woman you loved?

Anyway, I digress. 🙂 Miriam and Shai, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your gorgeous wedding (completely with MULTIPLE designer shoes!)!

EnJOY!
